RKIS rightly serves to be a second home to its students for here is where they spend the major time of their whole day. The school ensures that the students are engaged in a proportionate and well-balanced mix of academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. The day begins with the morning assembly at 9 am proceeded by classes till lunch break and fruit break at 12 noon. After the refreshing break the classes resume again and the remaining lectures continue till the final period. The first transport round to certain routes takes place at 2.50 pm and the final round takes place at 3.30 pm. The forty minutes break in between is provided to the remaining students as an extra coaching time in various subjects they need.

The students are taught each subject with multimedia aids and practical demonstrations through the smart classroom aids installed in each and every classroom. Our session begins in April and the full session focuses equally well on academics, sports and co-curricular activities. Throughout the year, various important events and celebrations take place as per the school calendar. A variety of co-curricular activities including Inter-House Quiz’s, Math Olympiads, Science Olympiads, Hindi and English Declamations, English and Hindi plays and other activities hone the skill sets of the students throughout the year. At the end of the year, with all the activities over, the students gear up for taking their final exams in March.

The senior section has complete access to the enormous collection of books and magazines in the library and well equipped labs for computers, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Throughout the Year students of YPS are involved in Social and Cultural activities. Our school has its own Eco-Club and a special herb garden. Students actively participate in tree plantation drives and anti-tobacco drives in areas around the school and other social causes.

1 to 8th

The Junior Wing of RKIS serves to be the chirpiest and most active corner in the school. Here great care is taken to safeguard the emotional and physical well being of a child. The school practices no bias system on account of caste, gender, mother tongue, ability and background of the child.

A typical day at the Junior Wing begins with an assembly and a prayer, followed by a hymn and/or a fun song. The academics are laid emphasis and we ensure that students develop reading habits as reading is an important aspect of learning any language. The students are encouraged to read at the well stocked Library at the Junior School. Besides reading books and journals here, the children listen to stories, play interactive indoor games and solve puzzles during their Activity Period. The equipment used for these activities has been carefully selected to stimulate both their cognitive and physical development.

Hobbies like Art and Craft, Theatre Work, Indian Music, Dance, Green Club are a part of the day’s routine and run parallel with the academic curriculum.

At RKIS, we encourage the natural scientists in the children and push them to explore and observe, use their logic, analyze and then come to conclusion. Our young learners are provided with ample opportunities to put to real life use whatever they learn in the classrooms. To help our young minds develop into caring ones, we ensure that they understand the cultural and ethical importance of our country’s past and present. After they explore their immediate environment, we lead them to learn about their city, state, country and the world. We even encourage their participation in festivals and national events to boost their real life knowledge about such events.

At the Junior level, we aim to build a strong Mathematics foundation in our children. We regularly conduct special Maths classes and Maths Olympiads. Ongoing Assessment is a very important aspect for both the learner and the teacher. The overall work done in all the subjects (academic and non academic) is reviewed periodically, the growth or deterioration if any is also discussed with students and parents in the parent teachers meetings.

We firmly believe that to ensure our students do their best in everything they do, the parents too need to get involved with their children’s learning process. They can do so by reviewing and helping the students with their homeworks. They are free to communicate with the class teachers and subject teachers through phones or through letters or messages on the diaries.

We also ensure that sports is taught as a subject in the school where students play and participate in all events. Athletic Meet, Cross Country, Inter House Kabaddi, Hand Ball, Korf Ball are a part of our yearly calendar. This year onwards, we have also included gymnastics in their curriculum.

Special Notice: all the students from 1st to 8th will be given a special training in Taekwandoo by experts on the alternate days of the week (Monday Wednesday and Friday) for half an hour each.

Kindergarten

RKIS takes immense pride in hosting the city’s best kindergarten section. Each of the Kindergarten section has a special teacher assigned to teach not more than twenty students each. Each class has its own maid who assists the child and teacher in every way.

The kindergarten champs have their own playing space mounted with huge play things and swings and slides. Our classrooms are well equipped with colorful children friendly furniture and toys and are wide, well ventilated and spacious enough to give everyone space to feel happy and relaxed enough to put in a rewarding days work.

We motivate our children to grow freely, perform freely and express themselves freely. The kids assembly is conducted separately from the rest of the school and the tiny tots are helped to bask in the development process in an unfettered imaginative way. The teaching is done through special smart class aids through a plenty of songs, poems, plays and hands on learning experiences. This method prepares them for life and their future in this world that is full of wonder and challenge.

The Kindergarten children are provided a healthy lunch menu and they are taught to eat with the other children that teach them about sharing and how to eat in an orderly and well mannered way. Music, art and games are important in RKIS Kindergarten.
